Learning Support Department

The Learning Support department is led by the SENCo, Mrs Hannah Fraser.  Should you wish to contact Mrs Fraser, please complete the ‘Contact Us’ form on the website.

The department aims to provide support for those with a long term learning difficulties or disabilities that affects their learning, plus supports those that are perhaps experiencing difficulty in their current learning.

Each year, links are made with our feeder primary schools to ensure student’s needs are known before they start their educational careers at KKS. This link helps us to plan interventions and support for the following year.

The interventions we offer vary each year, depending on needs and demand. Our core interventions generally include:

  • 1:1 Reading for Year 7 and 8 students
  • Peer Mentoring for Year 7 students, where students are paired with a Year 12 student to help encourage and develop reading skills
  • Lexoniks support for Years 7-10. This encompasses phonics support, allowing students to access the wider curriculum at KKS
  • Reading groups also run for Years 7-10

If you wish to find out more about the department please read the SEN Information Report located in the Policies section or contact Mrs Fraser for any specific questions or information.
